Ahmet Öğüt

Ahmet Öğüt questions our social reality by looking at social phenomena . Everyday events form the basis for his works, which are created with the help of various artistic means. However, he always breaks up the contexts we are familiar with by means of cunning interventions, which gives his works a humorous as well as critical power. Although This area is under 23 hour video and audio surveillance refers to the widespread control of public spaces, the lettering opens up a small space in its simultaneously comical and irritating manner: while surveillance cameras are normally in use non-stop for 24 hours, a gap opens up when they are only observed for 23 hours. On the one hand, perceived as a threat and evoking feelings of insecurity, on the other hand this time span contains the promise of a liberation, even if only for a short time. This  freedom is only a suggested one, for the hour of its occurrence always remains uncertain.
